Lead Pastor – Bolton Community Church

Pastor Scott Matthews serves as the full-time pastor of Bolton Community Church in Bolton Landing, New York, where he is devoted to making the church a beacon of hope, truth, and community for both year-round residents and seasonal visitors.

Scott is a graduate of the Word of Life Bible Institute in Pottersville, New York, where his passion for discipleship, leadership, and service began to take shape. Alongside his wife, Erica, who is also a Word of Life graduate, Scott spent five summers (2013–2018) leading and training more than 1,000 student workers at the Word of Life Ranch & Wild Camps. These years of hands-on ministry deeply shaped his heart for young people and his leadership style—relational, rooted in Scripture, and marked by joyful service.

In his role as Dean of Off-Campus Students at the Bible Institute, Scott supported and shepherded families transitioning into a non-traditional college setting. His guidance during these pivotal years left a lasting impact on many students and parents, demonstrating his gift for encouragement and spiritual mentorship.

Before coming to Bolton, Scott also served in a variety of ministry roles—from children’s ministry to youth pastoring in Maine—gaining a wide range of pastoral experience. His ministry has always centered around one key priority: sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and helping people experience God’s love in a real, personal way.

Scott and Erica, along with their four children, are now the first family in over 30 years to live on the Bolton Community Church campus. Their presence brings new life and renewed vision to a church that was first established in 1806. With deep roots and a forward-looking mission, Pastor Scott is leading Bolton Community Church into a new season of outreach, growth, and Gospel-centered impact.

A firm believer that the church should be the heart of the community, Pastor Scotty is committed to building relationships, offering practical help, and creating a welcoming environment for every person who walks through the doors. Whether it’s organizing family-friendly events, delivering Bible-centered messages, or simply having a conversation over coffee—he’s all in.
